Loan Rules

Loan rules determine who may borrow what type of item for how long.

There is a wide variety of items in the Pollak Library's various collections and several categories of library users, so there can also be a lot of variability between loan rules. However, for convenience, loan rules can be described in several broad categories for most transactions.

Please note that beginning on 6/19/2015 a new loan rule went in to effect regarding checking out material. In cooperation with the Academic Senate, the Library has revised its circulation policy, allowing Faculty and Staff to renew their material for an additional year. The renewal dates for most items will be June 1st of the following year for all Faculty and Staff. Items that are currently checked out with a due date of 6/15/16 will not have a renewal, because these items were checked out under the old loan rule. Once an item under the old loan rule has been checked in and back out, the item will be renewable. The maximum number of items that can be checked out at one time has been reduced from 150 to 100 items for Faculty/Staff/Students.
