An array of historic battle scenes in miniature, sure to fascinate the layperson as well as the scholar, will be the focus of the next display in the Atrium Gallery. Library Director of Exhibitions Veronica Chiang is curating the artifacts to accompany the displays, which have been crafted by members of the Historical Miniature Gaming Society. Society members have done extensive research to make the lifelike battle scenes as historically accurate as possible.

The point of the show, as Veronica emphasizes in her exhibit brochure, is not to glorify war, but to stimulate the viewer’s imagination about historic events. The exhibit especially aims to draw the viewer into considering what changes in circumstance or strategy might have led to different conclusions to the battles and, therefore, to alterations in the shape of our world. The opening of the exhibit is set for October 22, to coincide with events celebrating the naming of the Library.
