Ovid And Silverplatter Gateway Free Trials Underway - The Library is currently evaluating two World Wide Web gateways: Ovid and SilverPlatter WebSPIRS. Each of these products provides access to several popular full-text and bibliographic databases including ERIC, Current Contents, PAIS International, PsycINFO and many others. There is an additional charge for each database within the service. The Ovid gateway is available for evaluation until April 30; SilverPlatter's trial period extends until June 30, 1997. The products are available to faculty, staff, and students who access the Internet via CSUF campus computers, or to faculty or staff using a home computer to dial-in to the CSUF network.

You can access the products from the University Library's Home Page by selecting the "Indexes/Abstracts/Full-Text" option. Access is authenticated by CSU campus IP addresses.

We will be comparing the features of these two databases as well as those of our existing Web gateway, OCLC FirstSearch, in order to make decisions about which of these electronic services we will purchase for the upcoming fiscal year. Please send comments on these products to Pat Bril.
