Find Articles and More: A New Look for Spring 2002 Find Articles & More Alphabetical List of Databases

New for Spring 2002! - Visitors to the Library's website this spring will find that the Find Articles & More section of the site has a completely new look.

The new Find Articles & More features the same alphabetical listing of databases we have all come to know and love, but it is slimmed down in size to load into your browser more quickly. There are links from the page to both our online catalog (OPAC) and to an online list of full-text electronic journal subscriptions available to CSUF faculty, students & staff.

Check out these features of the new Find Articles & More alphabetical database list:

Uniform Database Description Sheets - Have you ever looked in an online database for a journal article only to find nothing on your topic?  It happens.  Maybe the database you searched doesn't cover that particular subject or maybe you are looking for a book and the database only indexes journal articles.  Whatever the reason, learning about the content of a database before you spend valuable time searching it is well worth your while.

To aid you in this task, the new Find Articles & More includes database description sheets for each database. Description sheets include information on subjects covered by the database, types of materials indexed, the dates of coverage, links to lists of journals included in the database, and other valuable information you should know before starting your research.

To see these description sheets, click on the title of any database on either the databases by title or databases by department/major pages.

Recommended Databases by Department/Major - The Pollak Library subscribes to more than one hundred electronic databases, making it difficult sometimes to determine by simply looking at the alphabetical listing which database is the best for a particular research need. The new Find Articles & More includes a listing of databases for each academic discipline.  Lists were prepared by Pollak Library instruction/reference librarians who ranked databases in order of relevancy to a particular department/major.
