Camera! Action! - In December the Pollak Library unveiled an exciting new
application of technology in introducing the Library to students and
visitors. A video tour, in production for over one year and funded
through a campus intramural grant, has now been completed and digitized
onto the Library’s web site for access anywhere in the world.
More than just floor
plans or pictures, this tour is a full-motion video, with live hosts
taking the viewer through the Library floor by floor. This full-motion
web site approach to library orientation has been produced by only a
handful of other university libraries nationwide. Complete with music,
graphics, and animation in an upbeat, MTV style, the tour can be viewed
online at the Library’s web site, at http://www.library.fullerton.edu/tour/
.
Any of three popular
video viewers—Quicktime, RealPlayer, and Windows
MediaPlayer—can be used. The video will allow students and
visitors to actually “walk through” each floor of the library to see
and hear a detailed orientation before ever setting foot in the Library.
