How do I find books by topic?

This page describes how to search the Pollak Library Catalog or 'Find Books' to find books by subject or keyword.

1. Go to the Library Catalog or 'Find Books'.

The Library Catalog is listed under 'Quick Links' on the library homepage.  'Find Books' is under 'Research'.

2. Search by Subject if you have a broad topic or know a specific Library of Congress subject heading.

Examples:
global warming
Mandela, Nelson
California politics and government

3. Search by Keyword, if you have a more specific topic or wish to combine concepts.

Examples:
emergent readers
personal computing and periodicals
immigra* and women and United States
