Pollak Library Service How Do I...
How do I use interlibrary loan?
Who can use interlibrary loan (ILL)?The ILL service is available to all current CSUF students, staff, and faculty who are registered with the Pollak Library. This service is not available to alumni or to Courtesy Card holders. Interlibrary-loan requests will not be processed for patrons with a excessive fines, overdue materials, or whose registration has expired.
How do I place ILL requests?
Requests must be submitted electronically via ILLiad. ILLiad requires "first-time users" to create a user account. Once the user account is established, patrons may submit requests anytime from any computer with Internet access.
What kinds of materials can I get through interlibrary loan?
The ILL section is able to get many different kinds of materials. Books and copies of articles are the most commonly requested types of materials.
How much time does it take to get the material?
The ILL user must be sure to allow adequate time for the verification, processing, and delivery time to and from the lending institution. Requests are usually filled within three to seven business days. Some items may arrive more quickly. However, depending on the nature of the material requested, some items may take up to two weeks or longer to arrive.
How long can I keep the material? The lending library sets the due date; thus each book received may have a different due date. Generally, the loan period is between two and four weeks.
Can I renew ILL books?
ILL staff may request a renewal for you, but the lending library, which owns the materials, decides if a renewal is permitted. Requests for renewals must be requested before the due date. Requests for renewals on the due date or after will be denied. All renewal requests are submitted through the patron's ILLiad account. (Click Renew Items.)
How will I be notified when my request arrives?
All patrons will receive an e-mail when the material arrives.
Where do I pick up and return my ILL materials?
Articles will be sent electronically and are available via the patron's ILLiad account. By clicking on the "Your Articles" tab in ILLiad, patrons can obtain any articles delivered electronically. Books are held at the Circulation Desk (located on the 1st floor of Library South) and can be picked up anytime the library is open. Materials are kept at the Circulation Desk until the due date. Books may be returned at the ILL office or at the Circulation Desk. Materials should NOT be returned via the book drop.
