The CMC also holds popular children's magazines, such as Highlights and Jack and Jill.
Because the Juvenile Collection's primary purpose is to assist prospective teachers in lesson planning, the collection is not as comprehensive as those in public or school libraries.
How to search for juvenile books:
To look for juvenile books in the Library Catalog,
click Select a Collection to Search on the Library Catalog home page, then
select Curriculum Materials Center Collection only. Do a Title search if
you know a title, or an Author search by entering the author's name, last name first.
You can also do a Keyword search using terms alone (alligator), or combined with
and; for example, dogs and horses.
Not all children's books -especially fiction- have an assigned subject in the Library Catalog, so a Subject search in the catalog is not recommended.
The reference book A-to-Zoo (PN59.Z5 L47 1999), located in the Curriculum Materials Center reference section on the 4th floor, Library North, lists all children's books by subject.
Although many public and school libraries use the Dewey Decimal System to arrange children's books, the CMC's juvenile books use the LC Classification, the same call number system as the main collection in Pollak Library.
