Pollak Library Collection Information

16mm Films

The Audiovisual Collection still retains many 16mm films. Although this format is no longer as popular as it once was, our collection includes many classic educational/documentary films not available today on VHS or DVD.

How 16mm films are arranged on the shelves:
Films are not on the open shelves; they are kept in a storage area. You can request them at the AVCMC Desk. They are not grouped by subject areas but simply by accession (inventory) number.

How to search for 16mm films:
Go to the Library Catalog. Limit your search to the Audio Video Collection. To view a complete alphabetical list of films, search by Author and enter FLIC in the search box (search example). To find films on a certain topic, do a Subject or Keyword search. The result will be a mix of both films and other audiovisual formats, but you can identify the films by disregarding everything labeled 'videorecording' or 'sound recording' (by hitting the Extended Display button, you can scan through the list for films more easily).
