Gifts and Support

Your gifts of books and other materials are appreciated by Pollak Library
and the Emeriti/Patrons of the Library Book Sale.

Gift Chest / Gift Pick-up

For small donations of modest value, gifts may be dropped off in the gift chest opposite the Circulation Desk on the 1st floor of Library South.

For valuable items or more than a few, it is best to contact Gifts & Approval Books (PLS-365, 714-278-2182). Pick-up can be arranged from campus offices or at the library loading dock.

What Happens to Donated Materials?

Librarians review all gifts to see whether they should be added to the collection. Items not added are often useful for the Book Sale Center (PLS-113) operated by the Emeriti and Patrons of the Library. The sale benefits the Library. Or materials may be offered to CSUF students as “freebies.”

What Donations Are Most Useful?

Most sought after for the library collection are recent books in good condition that relate to the CSUF curriculum. (Textbooks more than 10 years old or highly underlined are usually of limited value.) Other books, including popular paperbacks, are welcome for the Book Sale.

What Donations Are More Problematic?

Before donating journals or magazines, please check with Gifts & Approval Books (PLS-365, 714-278-2182). Journals are of use only if they meet a number of criteria. Unless we screen these materials first, we risk being overwhelmed! Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Acknowledgments

A letter of acknowledgment will be sent if desired. The acknowledgment will include a brief description of the gift. Appraisals are not made.
