How do I find a periodical in the Library?
Periodicals
owned
by Pollak Library may be located either by searching the
Library Catalog
or by searching/browsing
Find Journals. These tools are most
useful once citations to specific articles are already in hand.
The Library Catalog
may be searched by periodical title, international standard serial
number (ISSN), or title keywords. Searching the
Library Catalog will
return results for
periodicals in print or on microform and for some
electronic holdings.
Find Journals may be browsed
alphanumerically or searched by periodical title (or title
keywords). Browsing or searching the list will display hyperlinks to electronic
holdings and/or to entries in the
Library Catalog.
If the Library owns a particular
periodical
in print or on microform, the
Library Catalog will display its location and call
number. The location indicates where within the Library the
periodical
may be found, while the call number specifies the exact spot within
that location. Information (volume, issue, date, page numbers, etc.)
in an article citation should indicate the correct periodical volume, issue,
and page number.
Please note that neither the
Library Catalog nor
Find Journals
list is particularly useful when searching for article citations. If
you have a citation to a specific article, go to
Find Journals
and click on the
CitationLinker tab.
